Material Selection

Material selection is the first step in making your project unique. There are hundreds of varieties of natural stone and unique variations within each. Add in the different kinds of engineered quartz and the selection becomes even wider.

Basically your selection will come down to these simple questions:

What is the best material for your application?

What color and overall movement do you want the stone to have?

We have extensive experience with natural stone and engineered quartz so we are able to help you find the perfect stone for your project.

Just as a note, we prefer not to use prefabricated pieces of stone for kitchens. The use of prefabricated pieces increases the number of seams in a kitchen and typically is a sign of poor quality.

What's the best material for your application?

Stone is our business and we put our knowledge to work for you. You may want a certain type of stone but there might be some drawbacks for kitchen use. We can suggest a type of stone that has the same look and feel but be better suited for your application. You will be enjoying your stone for years to come so we will do our best to help guide you in selecting the best fit for you.

What color and overall movement do you want the stone to have?

Color: You would think that color would be an easy decision and for the most part you're right. But being a natural product there are many variations on a single color and there could also be color highlights in the stone. For example Bianco Romano which is classified as a white granite has grey and creme undertones with small vines of wine.

Movement: Sometimes called pattern is the characteristic of the stone that can really conveys the tone of the room. Some people like a consistent pattern for a contemporary look whereas others may want a more exotic stone. You can clearly see the movement in the granite slab pictured below but because of its color it has a calm tone.
